TOP 5 DESIGN TRENDS IN 2023
It’s hard to believe that it’s already time to think about 2023. The best part about the new year is that we look forward to colours and designs that will trend for the next 12 months. We are looking towards the seventies for our references with a refreshed colour palette, warmth, and comfort to be the focus of our design decisions.
1. Natural Stones
Natural stones are never going out of fashion, especially if the colour and design complement the style of the space. There are various types of natural stone for example, Marble, sandstone, limestone, terrazzo, etc. Flooring, wall cladding, countertops & furniture are some of the applications of natural stones for interior design. Stones are so unique and beautiful; they truly enhance the space if used in the right manner. One can create a piece of art in the interiors with the use of stones.
2. Perfect Imperfection
Beauty is found in imperfection and the authentic. The textured walls play a backdrop to a mix of vintage and modern furniture or a well-finished wall with an array of eclectic frames. An organic sofa and an artistic light in a perfectly rectangular room are the expressions of intentionally imperfect aesthetics, the appeal of that which is an ultimate form of art.
3. Fluted Patterns
Fluted patterns are the latest new modern look for space. Fluted patterns add texture to a surface and they promote the play of light. We can create patterns in wall cladding or cabinets with fluted wood, veneer, and MDF with a lacquer finish. Fluted stone or tiles in wall offices, bathrooms, etc. create interesting patterns and dramatic backdrops. In cabinets, we use fluted glass for the doors and in bespoke feature elements such as glass dividers for sliding shutters or bathroom cubicles.
4. Organic Material and Shapes
Organic materials and shapes were a focus in the mid-century modern era as the design evolved. They are back and continue to be in 2023. They produce a sense of calmness and naturalness and help soften the sharp lines in other parts of the space. Incorporate curved edges in different parts of the room, including couches, tables, lighting fixtures, or window frames or doors. You can still have geometrical shapes such as squares and rectangles, but make them more organic by muting the edges. Natural materials like jute, rattan, wicker, stone, wood, cork, and bamboo are doubtlessly versatile. They can be used anywhere in your interior spaces from flooring to upholstery, furniture, cladding, and lighting, creating a clear connection between outside life and comfort within the four walls.
5. Asymmetrical Rugs
Asymmetrical rugs add more visual interest. Where symmetrical arrangement has a tendency to feel monotonous over time. Asymmetry need not be only in the shape of the rug, it can be in the pattern or texture as well. Make a statement with a modern take on an eye-catching pattern or shape. This sure will create a point of interest in any room and elevate your space.
Final Thoughts
This year & design trends will bring out personal styles, inspired by nature, organic forms, materials, and textures. Not worrying about creating perfect symmetry. We will find beauty in those small imperfections.
